Xavier Ochoa is a mining engineer with close to 30 years of broad professional, multi-disciplinary experience in the precious metals and copper industries, gained through his involvement in several world class open pit and underground mines. He has a proven track record successfully managing all stages and levels of mining operations, including C-level management, mineral exploration, social and environmental impact studies, engineering studies, project management (e.g., developing / constructing, commissioning) and steady state operations. Prior to joining Quintana, Mr. Ochoa was providing Lundin Gold his management and startup expertise in coordinating pre-operational readiness, operational staffing and training, commissioning planning, and startup tasks as General Manager of the ~$700 mm capex Fruta Del Norte underground mine in Ecuador. He joined them from McEwen Mining Inc., where he was President and COO of this mid-tier, multi-mine/jurisdiction company. Prior to this, Mr. Ochoa provided development and steady state operational tasks for some of the largest mining companies and mines, such as GM for Goldcorp at its Cerro Negro underground mine in Argentina, GM for Glencore/Xstrata at its Tintaya Site and Antapaccay Mine in Peru, GM for Xstrata at its bi-national (Argentina and Chile) El Pachón Project, as well as other differing roles for Barrick Gold at its Veladero Mine in Argentina, its Mina Pierina in Peru and its Goldstrike Mines in Nevada. Mr. Ochoa holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from University of Arizona, as well as various professional certifications.
